Will You Wear White?

February 3, 2010

Wearing white is still the preferred color for most brides in their wedding dress selection. But these days some stylish brides are selecting dresses of different colors.

After white and ivory, the post preferred dress colors include a pale pink (or blush), silver and color combinations that include white and another color like gold, black, and red.

So gals, don’t feel like you have to wear white especially if that just isn’t a good color for you. Choose wisely and be happy with your dress

Need to lose weight for your wedding?

February 3, 2010

Many of us find that the stress of trying to plan and implement the perfect wedding is more than just a little stressful.  Let’s face it, it is hard!  And with all that stress can often come the temptation of eating our favorite comfort foods.

Now there is nothing wrong with a bit of comfort food once in awhile, but hit them too hard and you may find you need to lose weight for your wedding – to fit in that dress you picked months ago.   One easy way to drop a few pounds in a month or so is to go on the cookie diet.  This diet is all the rage and if your downfall is sweets, this diet may be for you.

Destination Weddings

December 22, 2009

When it’s winter and you are getting married, many engaged couples decided to have a destination wedding.  Go somewhere warm – a beautiful sandy beach in a warm tropical climate provides a fantastic getaway and some wonderful warmth in a season of cold.

If you choose to go with a destination wedding, be sure that you plan it in great detail before hand.  Consider just who will be invited, how long will they be staying and whether you will be picking up the cost of their transportation and/or their hotel stay.  Because you will already be in a wonderful spot to have a honeymoon, that’s likely where your honeymoon will take place.  That’s why you want to be sure that the people you invite are people you really want to share this very important time with.

Aside from that, realize that many details of your wedding will have to be done long distance.  Make abundant use of cameras so that you really see what you are ordering.  This will prevent (or at least minimize) any unpleasant surprises at the last minute.

Benefits of a Fall Wedding

November 11, 2009

Many brides cannot imagine anything other than a beautiful spring wedding.  That’s why June is such a popular month for weddings.  But there are many benefits of a fall wedding.

For one, it’s much easier to arrange to have your wedding scheduled with the church and reception hall of your choice.  Unlike those spring weddings, a fall wedding can often be scheduled with less than a year’s notice.  And because it’s not prime rental time, you can sometimes get a better rate for the reception hall rental.

Secondly, there are few family vacations or other schedule conflicts. Except for the football fanatics, Saturday weddings can be scheduled during the day which means you can go with a lighter menu (which means lower cost to you).

Finally, the colors of fall are wonderful.  The rich golds, coppers and burgundies are great for bridesmaid dresses and flowers.  A fall wedding is often the most stunning of the year.

So don’t overlook fall as a time to get married.

Trends in Engagement Rings

November 11, 2009

The traditional engagement ring stone has been a diamond for I don’t know how long.  Definitely decades and maybe as long as a century.  But not all engagement rings feature diamonds in the center.

Precious stones like Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald are often used in lieu of a diamond when the bride’s tastes run a bit contrary to the norm.  Each of these stones make an awesome choice for an engagement ring.

Other stones that are only semi precious can be used as well.  My mother had a clear topaz in her engagement ring and I have a Tanzanite stone.  Other pretty stones include amethyst or garnet.  Whatever you choose, if she loves it, it’s perfect.

Planning a Beach Honeymoon?

October 15, 2009

If you are planning a honeymoon the some exotic beach, the lure of sun and sand and beautiful blue ocean sounds like heaven.  Especially if you are going to get married during the winter months.  Imagine spending sunny days on the beach with your new spouse while the rest of the world is zipping up their parkas and heading out to the winter cold.

But to make that beach get away perfect, you’ll want to be wearing your bathing suit with pride.  By that I mean you’ll want ripped abs and a slim and sleek body.  One way to get there is to get a balanced workout program like the Rev Abs program that Beachbody has just released.  If you have a couple of months before the trip this is one way to get that dream body for your dream vacation.

Artichoke Dip – A Favorite Indulgence

October 7, 2009

With the weather now turning colder here, my thoughts turn towards warm, satiating foods we all love.  And nothing does that better for me than a good, flavorful artichoke dip.

Now I’m no cook but I ran across this easy artichoke dip recipe at HomeCookingConnection.com and made it for a party I was going to last weekend.  Well everyone love it and I was so pleased that my small contribution to the party went over so well.

I don’t know about you but I love spending time over at HomeCookingConnection.com.

The new trends in Bridal Bouquets

October 6, 2009

Bridal bouquets have been the basis of marriage flowers since the beginning and have been carried since the times of the traditional Greeks. Nowadays, the bridal bouquet remains the focus of marriage flowers and it is definitely each bride’s best accessory. With fresh new designs for marriage flowers, bridal bouquets are getting more and more unique and personalised.

So, how does one make your bridal bouquet stand out? Monograms are getting fashionable for every aspect of marriages including marriage flowers. The monogram is usually of the groom’s last name, but could be an aggregate of the groom’s initials and the bride’s initials. Monograms can be featured with marriage flowers in some alternative ways. Bridal bouquets wrapped with ribbon and fabric can display monograms embroidered onto the fabric or stitched onto the fabric with beads or rhinestones. Bouquets can also feature monograms made with wire or piping.

Today’s marriage flowers feature a spread of different blooms and other items that mix together to form delightful textures that add a little bit to bridal bouquets. The best way to add varying textures to your marriage flowers is to use many differing types and shapes of flowers mixed together. Flowers with varying textures like carnations and roses lend contrast to bridal bouquets.

Breakaway bouquets add a completely unique touch to conventional marriage flowers. Another sweeping trend for marriage flowers is the utilization of bright colours in bridal bouquets. Though many brides still stick with conventional shades of white and cream for their bouquets, the hottest marriage flowers feature vivid colors like bright orange, hot pink, electrical purple and magenta. Bright colours can simply be employed in mix together to make up a bouquet with citrus colors or bold purples and pinks. These colours can also be used alone as a single color bouquet or can be a part of a monochromatic bouquet mixed with added muted shades.

Avoid Wedding Hair Woes

September 14, 2009

Every bride wants her wedding day to be perfect. And above all, brides wan to look picture perfect in their gowns. There are such a lot of things to do it can
make your head spin. And speaking of making heads spin, a gorgeous hair style will go a long way to making that happen.  Below are
some pointers about hair any gal can us.

Keep the hair around your ears near to the face or
it’ll intensify the roundness. This face shape can wear almost any hair
style, long, medium or short. Most models have a flattering face shape
and as you can see they wear all different styles. An oval
face shape can pull off slicked back hair. With this shape
what you need to do gives the face a more rounded appearance. Don’t
wear the hair too long and try to get more fullness round the ears and
cheek bones.

A long or rectangular shaped face can wear wispy bangs or be parted at the side.
You do not wish to give your face too much length. This face shape
looks great with jaw length hair with wispy bangs or parted at the
side. If your hair is straight then try out some curl.

No matter what your face shape or hair style you select, be sure it is comfortable so you can look good and feel good on your special day.

Get Fit for Your Wedding

September 8, 2009

All brides want to look stunning on their wedding day.  But looking stunning takes a bit of work.  Aside from scheduling that facial and professional makeup artist, consider your figure.

If your figure is not where you want it to be, don’t worry.  There are some awesome workout programs available today that will strip pounds of fat off of you and tone you up in 90 days or less.  My favorite is P90X.  This program from Beachbody is formulated by Tony Horton and uses a lot of variety in each work out to keep ‘muscle confusion’ high which helps keep you from stagnating on the workouts.  In short, you keep making progress.

The only issue I have with P90X is that Tony has you do a lot of push ups and pull ups.  Now these exercises are unprecedented in creating a super fit body but for some of us ladies, it’s just not our speed.  So consider instead, ChaLEAN Xtreme which is also a very varied program which uses hand weights over the pull ups to achieve very similar results.

Of course, no workout program is going to make a huge transformation unless you also watch your diet.  Keep your protein consumption up while doing either of these programs and your consumption of breads, potatoes and any starchy carb or sugar low and you’ll see amazing changes.  When you walk down the isle, all eyes will be on you!

Make Your Wedding Bubbly

September 3, 2009

The marriage ceremony is totally full of different traditions. A more recent addition, wedding bubbles is neat way to send
off the bride and groom. Of course, bubbles can be used for the bride’s entrance also.  Like
flower girls in marriage, the marriage bubble girls give a stunning and novel entrance for a bride. What tends to work best is to distribute the wedding bubbles to the wedding guests before you want the bubbles to appear.  If you want to use them for the bride’s entrance, having someone stand before the guests at the church and explain what is intended will provide a better outcome.

Used before or after the ceremony, wedding bubbles add fun and whimsy to any wedding.

Engraved Mugs are always appreciated for wedding Gifts

September 2, 2009

When it comes to marriages, the bride and her mom or a best friend are the ones that shop. They relish in all of the details and appear to be ordering or reserving something on a scheduled basis. The groom is lucky the women take care of the majority of these details. When it comes to shopping, one of the main jobs that’s up to the groom, and the groom only is the selecting and purchase of the best man, groomsmen and usher gifts.

The first thing to do is mull over how much you are able to afford to spend on each of your men. If you are having a giant marriage with 100+ folk, you can have a tendency to spend more on your pals than if you’re having a smaller affair. Pick a target number and attempt to look only at gifts at approximately that price point. If your financial position is $40 per present, there isn’t any need to have a look at $100 gifts. You do not want to go over budget. Stick with what you can nicely afford.

When it comes to the gifts for your best man, groomsman, and ushers, it is easiest if you go with all the same item. For example, engraved beer mugs. Everybody knows that your best man is a bit more special as he was given the title of best man. There is not any need to spend more on his present. To keep it level, I like to recommend going with the same present.  A customized gift is special. There’s nothing else crucial to somebody than their own name. No matter what you decide on for your groomsmen gifts, be certain to give yourself lots of time to get these engraved gifts.
