Last weekend Ashley Simpson married Pete Wentz in a fairytale wedding ceremony performed at Ashley’s parents’ home in Los Angeles.  Ashley’s father performed the ceremony and Pete’s dog was the ring bearer.  According to People.com:

With the help of wedding planner Mindy Weiss, Simpson got her dream nuptials: The Alice in Wonderland themed reception featured a wedding cake by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings with a top hat, tea pot, stop watch and a pot of flowers on top. The elaborate centerpieces of black beauty roses were by Mark’s Garden. Guests were served Rose Veuve Clicquot champagne followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing to a deejay.

One has to wonder when the celebs get married at home - will this start a new trend?  If so, now is the time to invest in tent rentals!

My Niece is Getting Married…

I don’t happen to have any daughters of my own.  Perhaps that’s why I obsess so about weddings because I’ll not get the pleasure of planning one with a daughter.  But I do have many nieces and the first is getting married in June.  She’s so very busy getting her final details set.  Last week she ordered her wedding favors from a quaint new online shop EyeCandyGift.com.

She’s ordered the flowers, getting her dress fitted and worrying that her guests won’t enjoy the dinner menu.  How wonderful.  It’s such a buzz at their home all the time when I visit.  One time it’s a dress show while they all try to figure out what to wear, another time it’s getting all the invitations put together and the next it’s a bridal shower.

I just hope she slows down enough to enjoy it all and remember what this is all really about, committing to a wonderful guy she loves and who loves her back.

Going green has become all the rage and one has to wonder what the applications might be for weddings.    Invitations made from recycled paper are a good choice.  And when getting napkins printed up ask whether they offer recycled napkin products.  As for the remainder?

Real flatware to eat with looks so much classier and is easier on the environment.  Have the bridesmaid dresses made of natural fabrics.  And ask the reception hall if they use environmental friendly cleaning products.

A few little steps and we are all doing our part to live a greener life.  And isn’t that nice?
